Project 100
Story
Did you know that 1 Australian is diagnosed with melanoma every 30mins? With one Aussie losing their battle with melanoma every 6 hours.
In 2023, a mum, a role model, a person dear to so many hearts, who lived life to the fullest, was one of those Aussies. To honour her and the legacy she left behind, I formed a group of 10 very average runners called ‘The Red Hot Jilly Peppers’ where we ran in the Noosa running festival to raise awareness and funds to the Melanoma Institute of Australia. This group and the legacy of our darling Jill, raised $15,000 and encouraged many to get their skin checked, 3 of which were found to have early stages of a melanoma.
This year, in conjunction with the Melanoma Institute, we wanted to do something bigger and better to bring even more awareness to this important cause. This is where we have teamed up with the team at Project 88
to create 'Project 100', a 24 hour endurance event in which each team of 5 is to complete 100km of rowing and 100km of running.
Local businesses have generously come on board to sponsor each team participating, with 100% of the profits donated going directly to the Melanoma Institute. Help us continue the legacy of the Red Hot Jilly Peppers and donate to this incredibly worthy cause. Every donation, big or small, gets us one step closer to zero deaths by melanoma.
