Gibb River Run 2023
Story
Our names are Jarrad Bolton and Katie Lovis and we are endurance athletes from Margaret River, Western Australia.
This page is the home of fundraising for our upcoming endurance event and cancer fundraiser - the Gibb River Run to be completed in May 2023. We hope to complete this gruelling 660km run (touted as one of Australia's most challenging drives, let alone runs) over 10 days, all the while raising much needed funds for cancer research and awareness.
With neither of us being strangers to discomfort and ultra-distance running, this particular run is close to both of our hearts with Jarrad being in remission after a stage four melanoma diagnosis in late 2019. After 18 months of radiation and immunotherapy Jarrad is in remission and on a mission!
Travelling within the remote Kimberley region is no small undertaking, add in runs of 70km per day+ and our team are in for a whole new challene! This is where we hope you come in.
We are hoping to not only complete the distance but also to raise $200,000 for the Melanoma Institute. By clicking 'Donate' you can make a secure online donation (all donations over $2 are tax deductible). With your help the funds we raise will support MIA's world class research, treatment and education programs to save lives from Melanoma.
Further, spreading our message far and wide to anyone who may be able to support us in any way (including donations for raffle fundraising and equipment for the event) would be so greatly appreciated.
